LEGO Animation
I have a lifelong love of LEGO Bricks which began after buying my first set and making stop motion videos with my dad. Years later I still enjoy building, animating, and rendering these plastic bricks.
Stop Motion
I made my first stop motion LEGO animation using my dad's camcorder in our basement
Slowly, I improved my technique
I began creating and animating LEGO Transformers
Getting better at lighting and animation along the way
Eventually I created a YouTube channel and got a lot of views
CG Animation

Animating physical bricks was cumbersome and took up lots of space. I taught myself how to render bricks on the computer and learned even more about how light interacts with materials

Ground Truth
Fluid Simulation

Render
Smoke Simulation

Creating convincing backgrounds for animations was time consuming so I experimented with procedurally generated landscapes

I pushed my PC to the limit rendering large scenes with many pieces
Motion Capture
I used an Xbox Kinect for Motion Capture to see how fast I could animate while mixing in traditional keyframed animation
